Overview

This course is designed to provide comprehensive education on insulin pump therapy. It covers the latest insulin pumps available on the market, a review of the unique technologies offered by each, and best practice care and management to ensure effective diabetes management, care, and  education.

  • Describe how an insulin pump works
  • List two types of insulin approved for insulin's pump therapy
  • Name two benefits to wearing an insulin pump device
  • Discuss one challenge to wearing an insulin pump device

Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist

Dr. Lucille Hughes is the President of Diabetes Insights LLC. She has been a Registered Nurse for 40 years and has more than 37 years’ experience in both inpatient and outpatient diabetes care and program management. As a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist, she has cared for patients across the age spectrum from pediatrics to adult patients living with diabetes. Lucille is considered an expert in the use of blood glucose monitoring technology. She is board certified in advanced diabetes management and is proud to be a fellow of the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists where she has served over seven years in the following positions: Board of Director, Member’s Affiliate Liaison, Treasurer, President Elect, 2023 President, and Immediate Past President. 

Lucille is passionate about sharing her knowledge with both health care professionals and people living with diabetes.
